Fez

Fez, one of Morocco's imperial cities, owes its fame to Fez el-Bali, its medieval medina designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This maze of narrow streets houses bustling souks, traditional tanneries, and workshops where leather, copper, and ceramics are crafted using ancestral methods. Al Quaraouiyine University, founded in the 9th century, ranks among the world's oldest educational institutions and testifies to the city's historic role as a religious and intellectual center. The Blue Gate marks the entrance to this historic quarter, while surrounding terraces offer views of rooftops and minarets under sunshine for much of the year. Beyond the medina, the new city features parks and fountains in a more contemporary setting.
